Certificate: Astrological Counseling and Relationships

Astrological counseling has unique features. This certificate requires 30 weeks of instruction. It provides students with a solid foundation of the considerations, issues, and ethics of astrological counseling and the ability to work with clients in the most common area of practice:

  • relationships,
  • one's own capacity for and style of giving and receiving love, and
  • the interactions of lovers, spouses, parents and children, and the family itself.

Astrological counseling as a profession has some unique features. In this course, students will be introduced to considerations involved in astrological counseling as a profession

10-week course
Primary Instructors: Karen McCauley and Inga Thornell. Guests have included Claudia Dikinis and Robert Glasscock

Throughout this course students will work on communication issues with clients, including organizing a session, delivering content, dealing with ethical issues and developing referral strategies.

Temperament is present at birth and the class is built around the first two years of development. However, temperament remains over time, so the concept can be used for every age because it describes the behavioral style of the individual. It's helpful in understanding the interaction of couples, with other family members and between parents and children, even in the workplace with co-workers. So the concepts of the class can be applied to any age.

This is a wonderful chance to learn from one of the rare astrological experts in this field!  Based on a lifetime of work in the fields of astrology and child development, Cornelia has developed a new approach to looking at temperament using modern child development concepts.

Instructor: Joseph Crane
5-week course
No external text required, materials will be provided in the course

Family relationships form the background complexity of all of our lives: they set patterns that manifest in relationships with bosses and subordinates, close friends and intimates, and in our career and lifestyle choices. This course will go beyond the so-called “nuclear family” and also consider social, ethnic, and historical contexts of family life.

This course is designed to help you better understand how to work with the natal chart with regard to questions about relationships. It will help you improve your consulting skills and communication skills when clients come with the most common questions about their chart, for example: "Can this other person and I get along?" "How can I improve my relationships?" "Why am I having so much trouble with my co-workers?"

Instructor: Diane Ronngren
5-week course

Our personal relationships with those we love and our intimate partners as well as in our families, communities, workplaces and other personal networks affect how we feel about ourselves. Relationships count heavily in our survival, sustenance, and shelter as well as our motivation to succeed. Explore the secrets of personal connections, of attraction and repulsion, and the chemistry that draws us to the playmates and playgrounds of our lives.

Instructor: Alex Trenoweth
Prerequisites: A solid understanding of the basics of astrology (planets, signs, houses, aspects)

Professional astrologers can help parents to understand their adolescent child's cycles of development and show how they, as parents, function as authority figures. This can aid parents through insights into their relationship with their child, and empower them to discipline their child appropriately and most of all, support their child when it really matters. Although Child Protection guidelines discourage unqualified people from working with the under 18s, you can use astrology to help provide a unique insight into how this age group grows and develops.

The instructor’s unique position as both a professional astrologer and a school teacher provides a perspective that has been previously unexplored in astrology. Participants will work with information discovered through the instructor's research on the cycles of Jupiter and Saturn. Students will also be provided with unpublished resources from the tutor’s own collection as well as resources from other fields.
