THE ASTROLOGY OF GODS AND MORTALS:
FROM CHAOS TO COSMOS
From Chaos, the genesis of all things, to the birth of Gaia and her creation of Ouranos, this workshop will explore their astrologically relevant offspring. The focus is on the Gods who people our Horoscopes. We explore their realms both classically and psychologically to see how nothing has changed in the realm of the archetypal – and in the character and motivation of the planets in our charts.
How the archaic content of our collective unconscious “became” our planets’ names, thence psychic contents, is clearly demonstrated in the lecture and the power point presentations. The synchronicities of Gods and Planets – and their familial relationships – are dramatized as they are enacted in our own lives:
“The latest incarnation of Oedipus, the continued romance of Beauty and the Beast, stands this afternoon on the corner of 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue, waiting for the traffic light to change” . . . Joseph Campbell from “Myths To Live By”
Part 1: Saturday, Sept 21 – 9 am – 11:30 am PDT
In the first part of this workshop Erin will go through the origins of the mythic Gods and Goddesses as we see them in practice in archetypal psychological astrology. Her originality in using the myths as archetypes of each of the inner planets is immanently practical and astrological.
The personal planets, Sun Moon Mercury and Venus and the social planets, Mars and Jupiter, profoundly link our interior life to how our social life unfolds. Erin teaches how these gods and goddesses are the basis of personality and expression, feeling and behaviors.
Part 2: Sunday, Sept 22 - 9 am – 11:30 am PDT
In this second half of the workshop, Erin delineates Jupiter / Zeus and Saturn / Kronos as they are experienced in our self as social motivators . . . our sense of being in a world of personal and collective dynamics. How we play out these archetypal forces deep in the personal and collective psyche.
The outer planets: Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, our “options in consciousness” are explained clearly as both natal and transiting effects, allowing us to become increasingly more of ourselves in our process of individuation. These planets are not transpersonal but deeply and uniquely personal in our ongoing development – in both natal and transiting effect.
