Today’s astrologers are familiar with concept of the lunar nodes, but most have never even heard of the lunar apsides (pronounced AP-si-deez).

The Moon’s apsides – the line connecting the Moons apogee and perigee points -- have been tracked since ancient times. However, astrologers may be most familiar with them by their 20th century appellations: Lilith for the lunar apogee, and Priapus for the perigee.

But why did astrologers give them these names? Do they make sense mythologically? Do they make sense in the interpretation of charts real people?

These are questions astrologers Donna Woodwell and Bill Duvendack will tackle in their community webinar: The Dark Side of the Moon – including:

  • What are the lunar apsides?
  • Why did astrologers start calling the Lunar apogee “Lilith” and the perigee “Priapus”?
  • What’s the deeper mythology of Lilith? Does Priapus make sense as her partner, or is there a better choice?
  • Do these interpretations hold true in actual charts?
  • If so, what’s the best way to use this pair of points in chart interpretations?
