The Kepler Certificate Program is designed to meet the needs of the serious student of astrology, from beginning to professional. We are committed to providing our students with an online learning environment that is conducive to the best practices in education. Our goal is to ensure our students learn not only the material presented, but gain the critical learning skills necessary to help them successfully analyze, evaluate, incorporate and synthesize new information. To help us meet these goals, we ask the following from all instructors: 

• Include a citation for all materials used that indicates where it came from (even if it is you)
• Do not promote a single method for any approach. You can say what you prefer, but you must present the range of options used by you and other astrologers. 
• As best you can, research the background for any technique: What is its lineage? Where did it originate? Can you trace it back to the Greeks? Jyotish? Is it something that came into use recently? 
• Who uses it?  Are there any controversies surrounding it? Where does it seem to work best? Worst? Is there a specific philosophy behind its use? 
• Clearly identify any ethical issues related to the use of the methods presented 
• Place the astrology in context. This means that we would like you to anchor the astrological technique within mainstream cultural constructs. For example, if you are working with astrological techniques and the stock market, you should not only explain how the stock market works, but also explain how non-astrologers approach the task of prediction. If presenting counseling techniques, you should present where they come from and how they are the same or different from counseling techniques used by psychologists or other certified counselors.
• Clearly define your learning goals and outcomes for each week or session and for the course as a whole. What will your students know, or should know, by the end of week and by the end of the course? What methods will you use to evaluate whether or not the students have successfully learned the essentials (quiz, discussion forum, written assignments, oral presentations)?
• Provide active learning situations. This means that students should be given exercises and assignments that encourage them to draw connections and meanings on their own rather than just reading various materials or listening to lectures.
• Work with charts, but only rarely with individual student’s charts. There are both ethical and educational reasons why student’s charts should not be the focus of classroom exercises. 
• Be willing to spend the time to answer student’s questions, respond to their discussion posts, grade their assignments and meet with them “live” (via GoToMeeting) on a regular basis (every week or every other week).
